My next PhotoZoic project is about dead animals,'Les Morts'. No matter how flat they are, sometimes they appear to be strangely still alive in a cartoon style.
My exhibition and book launch for PhotoZoic starts with a preview party at 8pm on Friday the 1st of July at Holmfirth Methodist Church. Its part of the Holmfirth art Week fringe. There will be music by Garforth and Myers
Everyone is welcome to the launch, there will be the usual circuit of fringe previews around Holmfirth. Click here for details.
Robert Norbury has an extraordinary eye. His gift, as properly it should be considered a gift, is his capacity to release the shutter when heart and subconscious mind are in perfect union. What Norbury sees, that which Norbury responds to, the world that informs Norbury, most of us can only guess at.
The internal narrative that is illustrated in this story book of photographs is as complex and surprising as a fable by Brothers Grimm. The machine in Norbury's hand is more than a camera, it is a magical box requiring the essence of a sinister tale, an other world, a parallel existence. Here sinister figures dart across landscapes, glimmer from window frames and iridescently illuminate dark shadowy places. Norbury better than understands this surreal and absurd world, he inhabits it completely with the assuredness of a storyteller.

PhotoZoic is a collection of animal photographs taken over a seven year period. They will be formed into a book and an exhibition first to be shown at Light Without Heat, a fringe event of Holmfirth Art Week. The event takes place in Homfirth Methodist Church during the whole of Art Week. The show hangs on Friday, July 1 10am-5pm. Preview party 7-11 all welcome. Show opens noon Sunday July 3 and runs every day 11-6pm til takedown
on Sat Jul 9 @ 3pm.
The book of the work has been edited from 7 years worth of pictures and is the first in a series of books under the umbrella of PhotoZoic. The work is presented chronologically, I wanted to give it the same feel as the way the images are shot, very quickly. I almost always use the first image I take of each subject.
Prints and books will be on sale. The work will also be available on DVD as a themed slideshow. Cost and space will prevent me from printing all the pictures but you will be able to order them if you wish. Images will be exhibited unframed.
I will be running a workshop between 2 and 4 on the Wednesday, talking about my work and how I use Lightroom as a darkroom.
